Albert Hunt has been appointed International Coordinator of Sinfonía por la Vida.. In addition to teaching music in Ecuador, he will be developing music education programs, coordinating teacher exchanges, developing funding sources and creating relationships between Sinfonía por la Vida and American institutions.

Congratulations to new Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra (MCYO) clarinetists, Lucia W, Devin Z and William Z.  They were selected to the top two orchestras of this organization following a highly-competitive audition. Lucia is Principal Clarinet of the Philharmonic and William is Principal Clarinet of the Symphony.

August 1, 2008

In July Albert Hunt visited Ecuador where he presented several clarinet master classes, conducted youth orchestras in Quito and Guayaquil and worked as an artistic and music education consultant with the Fundación Orquestra Sinfonica Juvenil del Ecuador (F.O.S.J.E.) and Sínfonía por La Vída.

In 2009, Dr. Hunt will return to Ecuador to perform a concerto with the Orquesta Filharmonica del Ecuador.

Following a highly competitive audition, Simon, Z. Stephanie M, Jared G and Sandy Y. have been appointed to clarinet sections in the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras. Simon is Principal Clarinet of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. Stephanie and Jared are second clarinets in the American Youth Symphony Orchestra and Sandy is in the clarinet sections of American Youth Concert Orchestra.

Congratulations to Lucia W for winning a position in the National Symphony Youth Fellowship Program. Open by audition only, this full-scholarship program provides high school students in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area the opportunity to study with a National Symphony Orchestra musician; observe rehearsals and attend concerts; and participate in master classes and discussions with musicians, conductors, guest artists, and NSO/Kennedy Center management.
